بات کرتے ہیں کچھ خبر اخبار کی تو سب سے پہلے تازہ تازہ خبر یہ کہ امریکی صدر ٹرمک اور روس کے صدر پیوٹن 15 اگست بروز جمعہ آپس میں ملاقات کریں گے یوکرین کے معاملہ پر۔

دوسری جانب تجارتی کشیدگیاں ایسی ہے کہ چائنہ کو مذاکرات تخ 12 اگست کی ڈیڈ لائن دی گئی تھی ٹیرف معاملات پر مگر اس میں توقع رکھیں کہ اس میں مزید توسیع کر دی جائے۔

ابھی تو ہفتے کا آغاز ہے دیکھتے ہیں کیا ہوتا ہے۔ پاکستان میں یہ ہفتہ فقط ہفتے کے پہلے تین دن کام۔ہونگے اور 14 اگست بروز جمعرات جشن آزادی کی چھٹی کے ساتھ 15 اگست کو چہلم کی چھٹی ہوگی اور ساتھ ہی ہفتہ اتوار بھی بند ہی سمجھیں گے۔

We begin a new week with the international gold market opening sluggishly compared to last week. Prices have dipped by around $30, and as I write, gold is trading near $3370. Expect some movement later in the evening—if not today, then certainly tomorrow, as important US economic data is due for release. Something’s bound to happen.

In the local market, after last week’s fluctuations of around PKR 3,000, prices closed at PKR 362,500 per tola. Today, the market opened PKR 1,500 lower, with rates around PKR 361,000—though if you go to buy, expect it to cost PKR 1,000 more. That’s what I call market manipulation.

The latest breaking news—US President Trump and Russian President Putin are set to meet on Friday, August 15, to discuss the Ukraine conflict.

On the trade front, tensions remain high. China was given an August 12 deadline to resolve tariff issues through negotiations. However, expectations are that this deadline may be extended.

As for the week ahead, Pakistan’s working days will be shorter. This week will only see business activity during the first three days. August 14 (Thursday) marks Independence Day and will be a holiday, followed by August 15 (Friday) for Chehlum, and then the weekend—effectively giving several consecutive days off.
